When creating a new project on Post for Me, you will need to choose between two project types: Quickstart and White Label. While the code integration and platform support remain the same for both, they differ significantly in how the social platforms are configured and what your end users see during the account connection process.
Here is a breakdown of the differences to help you decide which is best for your use case.
Quickstart Projects
Quickstart projects are designed so you can start posting immediately. They allow you to utilize our approved social app credentials. This means you do not need to create your own developer accounts with platforms like LinkedIn, X (Twitter), or Facebook, nor do you need to submit your app for review.
How it works: Simply enable the desired platforms in the Post for Me dashboard. You can start connecting accounts and posting immediately.
The User Experience: When your users go through the OAuth flow to connect their social accounts, they will see the "Post for Me" brand and logo requesting permission to access their account.
Best for: Internal tools, prototypes, MVPs, or applications where white-labeling is not a strict requirement.
You still have full access to the accounts connected, however the connections will go through our app credentials and will be subject the permissions that our app has been approved for.
White Label Projects
White Label projects are designed for production applications where brand consistency is paramount. This project type allows you to use your own social app credentials.
How it works: You must set up developer accounts and create applications on each social platform you wish to support. You will then input your specific Client IDs and Secrets into the Post for Me dashboard. We have separate getting started guides for each platform to help with this process.
The User Experience: When your users connect their accounts, they will see Your App Name and Your Logo during the authorization process. There will never be any mention of Post for Me to your users.
Requirements: Because you are using your own credentials, your app must go through the approval and verification processes mandated by each specific social network. If you want help walking through this process feel free to reach out!
Advanced Features: White Label projects offer more granular control over the OAuth process, including the ability to pass permission overrides and custom redirect URLs.
Since these projects use your own app credentials, you can ask for additional permissions that your app has been approved for. Allowing more advanced integrations with the social platforms outside of the available Post for Me endpoints.
Common Ground
Despite the differences in setup, the core functionality of the API remains identical:
Seamless Integration: The code required to integrate Post for Me does not change based on the project type. You can switch strategies without rewriting your backend logic.
Full Platform Support: All social platforms supported by Post for Me are available on both Quickstart and White Label projects.
Mixing and Matching
You are not locked into one type of project for your entire account. You can mix and match project types to suit your development lifecycle.
For example, you might create a Quickstart project for your development or staging environment to test features quickly, while using a White Label project for your production environment to ensure a branded experience for your customers.
Note: Each project has its own unique API_KEY. If you use different project types for different environments, ensure you are managing your API keys accordingly in your application configuration.
